KEY PEOPLE PROFILES
Tamsin Day, Personal Injury
Department
Summary of experience
I started my career in litigation in a high street practice
in Dartford after completing my training in Nottingham.
I moved to a firm in Peckham where I initially undertook
a mix of litigation but over the 7 years whilst I was there
I became more specialised in personal injury claims. I decided
when "no win no fees" came into the front line
that it was time to join a firm where I could concentrate
on personal injury claims alone which led me to Marsons.
I am an accredited member of the Law Society's Personal
Injury Panel and belong to the Association of Personal Injury
Lawyers.
Views about Marsons
I see Marsons as a forward thinking firm. Amongst
other things we have decided to commit ourselves to dealing
with a large number of personal injury actions and in so
doing to provide a specialist service for those clients
with a genuine claim. As the public become more aware of
those firms who are prepared to offer this commitment I
hope in time that the influx of non specialised claims handlers
will disappear.
Spare time activities
I enjoy time outdoors horse riding, cycling and
walking my Irish Terrier who also enjoys daily exercise.
In winter the use of my spare time changes, although the
dog still needs to be walked! I also enjoy in participating
in any sponsored activity which presents a challenge.
Richard Drummond, Commercial
Business Department
Summary of Experience
I am a Senior Solicitor with experience gained
in the City at Ashurst Morris Crisp and most recently was
working for a firm in Guildford. I joined Marsons in 2004.
I have worked with Clients from small Companies and Partnerships
to large International Companies.
Views about Marsons
We provide Clients with sound advice in order to
meet their objectives. Good relationships with Clients is
a cornerstone to meeting business needs. I joined Marsons
as I believe that as a firm we can offer a commercial service
that will cover all the needs of businesses whether local
or national.
Spare time activities
Golf (handicap 18), tennis, rugby and family. I
am also an avid fan of fantasy football league.
Gillian Jeffery, Commercial
Property
Summary of experience
I have almost 20 years experience specialising in Conveyancing
and Land Law. I qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and have
spent the past 22 years working in the public sector. I
like to think that the knowledge and skills I have acquired
over this time are both broad and diverse. For the past
10 years I have concentrated on Commercial Property work
and have dealt with a wide range of matters from simple
Licences to Assign to very complex Sales of Land for development.
Views about Marsons
I like the fact that Marsons is a young and progressive
firm. The most striking difference about Marsons is their
commitment to their staff and the professionalism with which
they handle their clients.
Spare time activities
I spend far too much of my spare time driving my
teenage daughter to and from her social activities! When
I am not doing that, I like to go to the gym where I participate
in RPM classes, Body Combat and try to use the gym equipment.
I like spending time with my family and friends and I also
enjoy raising money for charity. In October 2002 I cycled
the province of Beijing (some 283 miles in 5 days) along
with 29 other volunteers to raise money for Trinity Hospice
in Clapham. Between us we raised over £150,000.00.
I am a social animal so I raised my funds by organising
a karaoke night, a quiz night, a Summer Ball, various buffets,
a football match, a netball match and a large variety of
raffles!
Deborah Keys, Personal
Injury Department
Summary of experience
I qualified the hard way – as a legal executive first
and then as a solicitor. I've worked for Marsons for fifteen
years. I am an accredited member of the Law Society's Personal
Injury panel and a member of the Association of Personal
Injury Lawyers.
Views about Marsons
A friendly, progressive firm. Never happy to be mediocre
– always looking to excel in whatever we do. Client
focussed. Able to give individual attention to clients.
Professional but approachable.
Spare time activities
I am a keen runner and belong to a local running club. I
enjoy participating in races up to half marathon, although
I'm tempted to have a go at the London Marathon.
Beth King, Personal Injury
Department
Summary
of experience
I qualified as a solicitor in 1986. Since then
I have specialised in personal injury litigation. For 6
years I was a partner in a firm in Northampton acting almost
exclusively for Defendants' insurers.
I joined Marsons in 1997. I am an accredited member of
the Law Society's Personal Injury Panel and belong to the
Association of Personal Injury Lawyers. Most of my work
involves acting for people seriously injured in the course
of their employment for example while using defective machinery
or because of their employer's unsafe system of work. I
also have an interest in risk assessment, costs issues and
professional negligence claims arising out of personal injury
cases.
I have also been appointed by the Law Society as a Solicitor
Assessor to sit with and advise Judges in costs appeals
as an expert witness.
Views about Marsons
Marsons is a firm of young and proactive lawyers
committed to doing the best for our clients and constantly
striving to be the best in our chosen fields. Our success
and continued growth is due in large part to our determination
to accept instructions only within those areas where we
have the requisite skills to provide our clients with the
right advice when they need it.
Spare time activities
Badminton, dog walking and gardening. I am also
known to attend International rugby matches to keep an eye
on the England team (their sporting prowess of course!)
Mary Martil – Social
Housing
Summary of experience
I've run the gamut of experience in housing law
– landlords, tenants, homeless persons and everything
in between. I've worked in private practice, the voluntary
sector and the public sector. Primarily as a litigator,
but also advising on housing policy, advising on the drafting
of tenancy documents and providing training.
Views about Marsons
Having "been around", I feel qualified to say
that Marsons is a good place to be. It has high standards
of professionalism without being stuffy. We like our clients
to feel that we are 100% approachable. The firm is forward-thinking
and alive to possibilities.
Spare time activities
With a full-time job and a young daughter, spare time is
not much in evidence. All of my relaxation activities tend
to involve eating and drinking although I'm sure that, at
some time in the future, I'm really going to get the most
out of that subscription to the gym.
Jennifer White, Commercial
Litigation Department
Summary of Experience
After qualifying in 1991 I worked at a commercial
firm in Crawley, West Sussex as a Commercial Litigator before
joining Marsons in 1994. I became a Partner in 1995. I specialise
in Commercial Litigation and Employment.
Views about Marsons
As a firm we pride ourselves in our expertise and
ability throughout the firm whether legal or support staff.
We are different because we are not your "traditional"
firm of Solicitors (although we uphold the highest ideals
and principles of our profession) and therefore we are easy
to talk to! We take pride in our achievements for our Clients
- we do not disappoint.
Spare time activities
Skiing (snow and water!), travelling and friends.
I am currently restoring a traditional Kentish Oast House
which is keeping the builders and joiners of Kent happy
