    Losing a loved one is a difficult and upsetting time, which can be made even more stressful if you have been appointed as the executor of their will, or they have died intestate (without a will).

    As the executor, it is your legal duty to pay all the tax and debts and then distribute the assets correctly to the beneficiaries. You will be personally liable for any mistakes made, including any under or overpayments, which you may have to pay out of your own pocket.
